Female facial shaving in Japan?
Check out this article
The banner pictured hangs outside of a very ordinary Kyoto barbershop in any neighborhood Japan. The barber who runs the shop is, like most traditional barbers, elderly.
Above the model's head, it reads:

Thanked: 1Here's a youtube video of someone having it done.
I showed this to my girlfriend and asked her if I could practice straight shaving on her face. She declined...

I have noticed that shaving, in addition to removing the hair, does leave my face softer. I'm assuming it also exfoliates. That might be a reason for a female to have her face shaved, even if there is only very fine, blonde hair.

If I remember correctly, there was a thread similar to this perhaps lost in the crash. Someone said it had something to do with geisha, it would help the makeup go on better or something. Makes sense coz I am sure that thick white paint stuff they put on, would show all the fine little hairs.
I haven't been to a barber that shaves women as well, but then I haven't seen any women go to a barber here. They have all these damn expensive esthe (sp?) clinics to go to.
Parents actually do it to their daughters when they are young. My wife said her mum used to shave her and her sister, but says they just do. No explanation as to why.
I too got a shock when they started shaving other parts of the head than just the face and back of neck. For me though the intimidating part was when they close your eyelid to shave it and shape the eyebrow.
The reason I didn't tell him to stop is because, I try to accept other cultures. This is the way they do things here, so I am willing to try most things at least once, now it doesn't bother me its become a regular thing.

I heard that they also do something which is equally is not more crazy to us westerners which I think would be against forum rules to explain.
But the gist is that Mothers/Grandmothers do something to their babies to help them get to sleep quicker. I always hoped it was an urban legend.

I don't know about all that, but here's an interesting innovation for helping put babies to sleep

Women in Japan shaving their faces sounds like a painless way to remove it. A lot of the salons do threading (or khite) which is like an ancient epilady that pulls each hair out. My mom had it done once... and only once.

Shaving facial hair
I am not Japanese, and I am shaving my facial hair from my 16th. I tried wax before, but it is too painful, also I had to wait my ladies mustache to grow enough to be waxed. Shaving is great, and it make my skin smoother qand cleaner. I don't mind some of my friends think it is "masculine way". I shave once every second day and it is just enough.
