Alright!
I just made several pyramids and not a dang one of them worked! I am guessing that I was out of tolerance on my angles. I ordered a set of machinist's reference triangles and as soon as they come back from NASA precision calibration I am going to make a new set of Pyramids! I am sure that the 507.23 I have spent is going to pay for itself in honing time!

Yes, that's an excellent idea! diamond pyramid with a platinum base... that must do the trick... maybe the location could be important: I think that building the pyramid at the intersection of the Equator and the Greenwich Meridian will increase his cutting power and keep the razor sharper and longer!

Thanked: 131And size would matter too. I'd say... no less than 5km tall.
Edit: Is this what Lynn means when he talks about honing using pyramids? Then it MUST work- he's had great success with it!

Thanked: 1587I've found with my pyramid that you cannot get the full benefit from it unless your bevel is very good to begin with. Otherwise it could take weeks.
Of course, you still need a lot of experience to use one properly and it is very easy to ruin an edge when first starting out. I'd suggest that if you are a pyramid noob, go get yourself a tuning fork (740 Hertz) and a home enema kit.

Thanked: 17Silly People....You are doing it all wrong.
You need to travel to the north side of the Great Pyramid in Egypt. Once there find a native Egyptian (beware of tourists). Have your new friend construct your pyramid out of local sandstone 1.36 cubits square at the base. note...construction must be completed at the height of a solar eclipse.
It is very important to have sharp razors before inserting into the pyramid!

I think the Mythbusters tried that.
Do I really need to give you the results?
If a blade stay sharp, it's because it's not used.
