Thread: towel steamers

Anyone know where to get a towel steamer for personal use? I found a few but they hold upwards of 240 towels and I would need mine to hold maybe 12. So where could I find such a thing?

Why do you need more than 1 towel at a time? If I need to reheat the one I am using, it can go back in the hot water. Perhaps a rice cooker or vegetable steamer would serve you better, and a lot cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't want to handle a towel that hot, nor do I have the space in my bathroom for such appliances.

The microwave works great for heating up a towel quick...

I just thought it would be convenient and nice to have. I think it would be easier to get a steady hot temperature then messing around with tap water. Mine on some days is not as hot as others I don't know why.

I have one of them hot water on demand deals on my sink. Works great for towels and tea.

Plus one on the microwave I have the smallest one I could find tucked in the Linen cabinet in the "Shave Den" I have it adjusted power wise to get the exact temp I want every time at exactly 1 minute...
I tried the crock-pot/rice cooker idea but it takes to long to get them heated up... Same with the actual towel steamer they are designed more for a barber shop type operation where it is turned on in the morning and used throughout the day....
The other idea I tried was a heavy crock that I put the towels in, then poured boiling water on at the start of my shower, again the time, and the going up and down the stairs didn't work for me... YMMV

This all was observed with huge eye-rolling from the SWMBO !!!!!

Hi i have abarbers shop and have a towel warmer but to be onest i pop a wet towel in a food bag and warm in microwave the towel warmer will take a good 90 min to get a towel nice and hot.

I bring two things in two the bathroom with me: a tall cup of ice water and a kettle of boiling water.

I add the boiling water to the "hot" water that comes out of the tap. I've done it enough times now to be able to guess-timate about how much to add of each to get the temperature just right.

The kettle keeps the water hot so when I need more for the second pass, I just add it to what is allready in the sink.

The ice water of course is for the cool down at the end. I live in Arizona. In the summer time our "cold" water is not cold at all!

This all sounds complicated. But it is all a part of the morning routine and so it is done pretty much automatically.

Do you run the towel under warm water first or cold water?Do you need to use any sort of disenfectant?How long do you keep it in for? Is the towel put in the dirty laundry after its been used?
