Thread: Shower vs. hot towel.

I shower, sometimes I microwave my scuttle full of water. Instead of pouring out the hot water from the bowl to make room for lather, I slowly put my towel in and let it absorb the hot water. Then I apply the towel. Great shaves ensue.

I'm still trying new things but I usually do the hot shower. I shave at night after work and taking a long hot shower then shaving is relaxing for me. On saturday and sunday I will do the hot towel and pre shave oil. I think the hot shower works best for me especially every other day. The shave that is!

I have oily skin and think it helps my shave, so I don't shower first. Hot towel twice, once before and once after stropping the razor.

I actually use both. My routine is:
1. Shower
2. Get the brush and soap in hot water
3. Strop (20 linen and 60 leather). My face cools and dries during this time.
4. Build lather in lather bowl
5. Hot water splash
6. Lather my face
7. Hot towel
8. Re-lather
9. On my merry way with the razor

My best beard prep is soaking in an extremely hot tub while watching a favorite TV episode on hulu.com then lathering up and stropping while lathered. Then relathering, and shaving.

Thanked: 19When I shower on the days I don't shave, I wash my face with cleanser or other some such. When I'm going to shave, I put my brush in hot water first, then I wash my face with moisturizing body wash. Then lather and go. I usually strop during the day when I'm bored or whatever.
