    Default The "Fool's Pass"

I did the Fool's Pass this morning!
Wiki link to the Fool's Pass

(If memory serves, I think that Xman gets the credit for this pass. Am I wrong?)

I didn't do it terribly well, but I was careful to do a WTG pass and an outside-to-inside XTG pass first, and I did not shred my upper lip and I did not cut off my nose.

I actually sort of held the blade almost still and accomplished the maneuver with upper lip jazzercise. I scythed the blade slightly inside-to-outside (that is, from my face's centerline outward) while my lip jazzercised.

7:20 pm, and my upper lip is still smooth when I stroke it XTG with my finger.

Disclaimer: if you are encouraged by my success, try the Fool's Pass, and cut off your nose, it's not my fault.
    Keep your pivot dry!

The top lip starts as one of the most difficult areas, but once you get it right it ends up being the smoothest and longest lasting part of the shave. Xman's video showed me the way, though I hold the blade a bit differently.

I now wish I could go ATG on my chin as easily as I can on my top lip!

If you guys can go ATG on your upper lip and your chin don't waste money and time on razors and shaving cream/soap. Just put milk on your whiskers and get the cat to lick them off.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Strange, I've never had a problem getting a close shave by doing a single pass WTG directly under my nose. I'm wondering why it's so difficult for some?

I've never tried the "Fools Pass" and don't think I will any time soon. I kinda like my nose just the way it is.

I do a three pass daily W,X& A TG. This includes my upper lip. In the across, I start in the corner of my mouth up to my nose and for the against I start on top of my upper lip and go straight up. I use a shaving mirror for these passes pay extremely close attention to the blade. I have a dark dense beard and these passes give a satin smooth finish.

For me the most difficult part of the whole deal is the area right below my bottom lip. when I pull my lip over my teeth to stretch that out the hair follicles seem to raise as bumps, I have to be very careful not to shave off any bumps!

Upper lip isn't too bad, if the toe of my razor is sharp enough. I really can take advantage of the barber's notch on my medium w&b for that little area I shave above the moustache.

X-Man's vid was the one that taught me too!

I've got hairs that lie dead flat against my skin. The only way to shave them is ATG. I laboured for many weeks trying to get smooth across the entire lip before landing on the Fool's Pass as what I considered a safe enough solution for me, but I tell everybody the same thing. Don't do it. There is a risk. There must be an increased risk simply by virtue of the fact that the edge is aimed in the wrong direction when it is aimed at your nose.

What?!?!? You aren't supposed to do this? I wasn't aware. I've been doing it since day one.
