Thread: Poll: How often do you shave ?

I shave every day not because I have to but because I enjoy the experience and because I am usually honing one or another of my razors and I want to see what progress I may be making. My main motivation in shaving daily is enjoying the whole experience. I love the lathering and applying the lather with the brush, the shave and the splash afterwards. So how often do you shave and if you feel like posting your reasons, if any, why ?

EDIT; With a straight razor

I'm assuming you mean with a straight. My day does not allow a daily straight shave. I shave once or twice a week now. That usually covers me pretty well, but I'll throw in an occasional DE or electric shave if I have a meeting.

Daily, for the same reasons as Jimmy. Enjoyment, focusing my mind for the workday ahead, testing newly honed razors. I like to feel my face periodically throughout the day to check if it is still BBS, and feel sad when 5:00 shadow sets in. But, I pick the razor for the next morning's shave each evening, and look forward to the dawn, or pre-dawn, when I will once again enact my morning ritual. My wife thinks I am obsessed, for some strange reason.....

I'm a black sheep, I usually shave once a week whether I need it or not lol. Seriously, my beard doesn't grow that fast due to Native American ancestry, and I'm not let out of my cage that often, so once a week usually does it for me.

every other day for me ... but I skip sundays usually cause im running with my son'

so generally its Mon, Wed & Friday for me

Every second or third day depending on work schedule.
I get a smoother shave if I skip a day between shaves

About once every other week. It's a luxury, a treat for me.

I have no set pattern. I shave when it occurs, which is usually every other day or longer. to me or when I am going out with my wife!

I probably average about every othe day. I would like to shave every day, but I don't for a few reasons.

I don't have time every day: I'm student teaching full time and I'm a full time grad student. Between my homework, grading papers, teaching and attending class, I don't always have time for myself.

My beard doesn't grow that fast: If I do two passes (WTGish/ATG/ish) I still look pretty much clean shaven the next day.

My skin can't take it: I have pretty sensitive skin, and I get irritation if I shave every day, esp if I go ATG. I could probably manage it if I only went WTG, but a one pass shave isn't really enjoyable.

I shave every day because

* I have such a fast grow and coarse whiskers that I have to
* I love the whole experience like Jimmy said including splashes and balms
* I like to test at least one thing a day usually
* I 'm really glad to found this interesting art where I can't find answers too easy and there are so many different sections which I can try to develop better endlessly.
