Thanked: 0Today I shaved with a properly sharpened razor. Well on my right side of the cheek did leave some to be desired it wasn't bad at all, face was a bit raw on the side but that is propably my skin adjusting to a new razor. Well the rest of my face was a different story, tried my left cheek but kinda goofed and got myself a nice cut but took care of the with my syptic pencil (hell of a sting!). The part of my neck that I shaved were pretty smooth. Overall not a bad experience, reminds me of when I was first learning to shave. Got off to a descent start; can't expect great results the first time around. I think I'll practice slowly moving over my face. This board and Lynn's shaving video are a big help and I'll def. keep at this because of my great resources here. Thanks guy; you've converted a 16 year old.

Thanked: 0Today I shaved again, I think I'm getting down stropping pretty well. I'm getting my right cheek down and I'm getting the hang of things with my left hand. Currently I just shave down, once I get that down pat I'll start figuring out going across and against the grain.

Good plan, Patrick. Truth is, I don't shave as much as I used to, and probably as much as I should. Sometimes its a week between .... AND, when I do shave, most of the time its a single pass and for 86.357% of my face on average, that makes for a smooth shave that lasts a couple of days.
I also think as a group we aren't doing too bad at getting this routine down. The older generations had parents and grand parents they could sit and WATCH do all this stuff we struggle just to discover. By the time they were old enough to shave, they hardly needed to practice. I mean, imagine some little cave-boy with a short stick and a flat rock mimicing his cave-daddy making the mussel shells sharp. Yea, we're doing OK.
