Thread: stubbley scales

had a great shave but later noticed there are bits of stubble on the inside of my scales, I thought about running water through them but decided it would be difficult to dry and consequently rust the blade. Does anybody have any tips? all replies greatly appreciated.

I just fold over some tissue paper and run it up through the opening in the scales. I dry between the scales on all my razors after I shave doing this. Seems to work well!

You can keep the razor open over the side of a glass, handle inside, blade outside (or vice versa), until you feel it's dry.

When I'm finished shaving, I usually rinse the whole razor... scales and all.

I concentrate my towel drying efforts on the blade and pivot area.

After I apply some light oil to the blade and pivot, I use a dish drying rack and I simply 'balance' the razor via the pivot on the rack to dry. When I come in from work, the razor is dry. I haven't had any problems with this method.

Someone posted the use of a hair dryer a while back. I thought that was a novel idea. I tried it a few times and it does work ... although I did feel a little silly while in process.

I've also just noticed the blade doesn't close dead centre in the scales and if I'm not careful will catch, any ideas?

I'd either get it re pinned or use a piece of paper folded over the back.
Make the paper a good bit longer than your blade is. Kind of like here.

thanks for the paper tip, its just that its a brand new razor I didn't expect having to get it re-pinned

Drying;
Carefull doing this!
Have the razor open as thou for use. Blow throu scales to get worst of water out. (The spine should be next to your check not the edge). Blow, wipe, blow, wipe. Till bulk out.

Then i grip it where the blade is pined to the scales, hold on real tight, and shack it to buggery.

I always leave it open to dry as the other guys mention, except i just lay it down (with out the edge touching the table of course)
Note. lay it somewhere where it cant be nocked. My Nanna still has a scare from where she knocked her husbands razor of a cupbord, it opened up and sliced in the air. Woops.

Someone can correct me but im pritty sure its the side that it is leaning to, give that pin a few taps with a hammer.
