What direction is against the grain on your neck? For me it's forward. That's easy with a DE, but I just can't get the str8 in there, and when I do, my hand totally blocks my view.

I think I'll try some of my smaller blades for that and see if that works.

Yeah Joe, it goes forward on the neck (ie against the grain). I've got a nice little 4/8 that I'm going to experiment with this weekend. OTOH, I can shave the left side of my face easily with my left hand, but struggle on the right with my right hand. This is kind of frustrating, given that I'm mostly right-handed. Just another challenge of using str8s.

There are some neat illustrations that may help in Arthur Boone's Razor Central site: http://www.en.nassrasur.com/razorcentral/shavnck.html (as the sample for the area of the throat)

That was a great reference that I hadn't seen yet. Thanks. I have found the method that Lynn uses in his video clip works great for me. On the cross grain pass I use a very light touch. Still not the best on my neck but my cheeks and chin are 98% stubble free. In a couple of weeks I'll try some third pass action.

The smaller razor seemed easier to use on my neck. I was able to make a nice close second pass against the grain for the first time. No nicks either!

David, I think we have the link to that site and information in this group. Thanks. 8) Lynn
