I feel for you!! I'm sure you will be very excited to get her back nice and sharp. I had similar issues months ago, that's when I decided to start honing myself. Now , I do not have to wait at all, just pull out the stones and have at it.

I once went two weeks without shaving because I was waiting for my favorite razor to come back from having some bells and whistles added!

It''s like not having sex for a month.
OK wait, that sucks.

But it's nice when it finally happens!!!

lol, I seem to have ended up with a hone for almost precisely the same reason. The trouble is all my razors are done now! Two more on the way though, luckily!

there is a saying "beware of the man with only one gun, he most likely knows how to use it"this probley holds true for the man with one razor as the swiss willi showed us in his vidio shaveing off his beard and doing a second pass in under 4 min.

Well the days I didn't shave were worth it. Ron did a great job as far as I can tell (I haven't held a whole lot of razors, FWIW) because I had a smooth, even shave that drew no blood because I was, for the first time, able to shave completely sans pressure.

I had about 1/4" of tension built up, and in one climactic pass that razor left nothing but catharsis in its wake.

I shaved with a DE when my straight was 'troubled' (I didn't have this forum, and had to figure out honing on my own). After I got a second razor, I never went back except in extreme cases where I had to shave and was not at home with my shaving set-up.

I still keep the DE around and have used it on occasion, tough until recently, that occasion has not come up. It's the best option as far as disposables go. I actually did use it a couple of weeks ago. After not touching one for over four years(literally), I must say that it was very strange to hold one. Even stranger was using it. I can shave pretty fast with a straight razor, but could only do a "Half fast" job with the DE (if you know what I mean)

BTW, I think you meant "monogamy", not "celibacy".

I suppose that is true; I wound up getting it back so quickly it was a very short celibate period! I had envision a week or two of growing beard!
