Default Summer Reminder: Alum & Stretching

Stretching is fundamental for a close shave and requires a good grip with the finger tips. During most of the year, the razor removes the lather and my skin stays dry but it's 90° in Modena and my face is sweating, making it impossible to get a good grip to stretch. The solution is to wet your finger tips and rub them on an alum block. This gives your finger tips enough traction to stretch, even if your face is wet and soapy.

Brilliant! Thanks for the tip! I have noticed that the alum makes for a lot of friction (so does the liquid styptic for that matter), but I've never thought to try it for stretching. If you don't have an alum block, maybe try out your styptic...

I find that a damp cloth works well for skin stretching.

You're welcome. I learned it from my barber and I'm just passing it on.

That is a good piece of advice. I am going to have to try that. I have been trying to think of how to be able to stretch it better. Thanks!
