Thanked: 172MICROWAVE
TRIED SOMETHING NEW TODAY. NOT ONLY PUT TOWEL IN MICRO TO GET HOT BUT ALSO THE LATHER AFTER WHIPPING IT UP.
LATHER STAYED HOT LONGER AND FELT REALLY NICE. ANYONE ELSE EVER DO THIS OR SOMETHING LIKE IT ?Consider where you will spend ETERNITY !!!!!!

Thanked: 235It makes sense that nuking your lather in a microwave would make it stay hot, but I face later and I don't think it would do any good to put either my face or my brush in the microwave.

Yes I've tried it too. I felt the microwave puffed up and dried out my lather, even on 10 seconds. Towels work great though.

Nuke 'em!
I take my GP scuttle and fill it with water (both the bowl and water jacket), then about a minute in the nuker ... it really gets it hot and it stays hot a lot longer than using just hot tapwater.

There are probably chemical engineers within our ranks who can give you an idea of where the temperature is that more heat begins to dry out the soap. My tap water is plenty hot enough that the lather is a nice temperature. I use a lather bowl purchased fror SRD that is very large, and heavy. The mass of the clay holds a nice temperature on the brush and lather throughout my shave. I lather up between WTG, XG and ATG.

I have this little potpourri crock pot, it's not heat adjustable or anything, but I can put one of the Scuttles that look like a flower pot from SRD in it, and it works like a double boiler. I have it down to a science now. If I unplug it at second pass, that's provided I do 3 passes, which I normally do. it's perfect. The lather stays hot throughout the shave, but doesn't dry out....
