Fun reading. Anyway, years ago I raced bicycles and did shave. Yes, if you crash you will get road rash somewhere...usually involves days of dealing with a weeping wound. Using any bandage involves taping....pulling off tape....and hair everytime you rebandage. Also easier to clean the wound if hair free.
Fortunately I fell rarely, though fall I did. The more frequently realized benefit of being hairless is that its easier to massage legs with lotions or oils. Lactic acid build-up in muscles is painful. Conventional post-race proticol was to lay on back; feet up on a wall and self massage legs. If lucky...not self administered!
Anyway, I hadnt shaved my legs in years. Until I started SR shaving that is. Now I have small hairless patches where I test my blades during honing. Really an eyesore.
