Lefty/Righty
Gentlemen,
I use both hands.
Even though for the past few months I am reduced to one pass only because of an injury to my left hand, I still use both hands. I tried to use the right hand only on both sides, but it did not feel right, like driving backward.
I gave up and chose to shave with both hands, even if it meant only on weekends, and only one pass. The rest of the time, I use my loving double edge safety razors, which I have used throughout the years, anyway.
So gentlemen, for me it is both hands.
Regards,
Obie

Thanked: 190both hands
yes, I do. Each hand has an angle advantage over the other on certain strokes and certain parts of the face. I am right handed and just started slowly using the left and the use of the left grew more and more until I can shave independently with the left.
Because I discovered advantages with each hand in getting a superior BBS shave, I use both(one at a time) during every shave.
Good Luck with it and give yourself extra time shaving.

I've only been using a straight razor for a few weeks, but today was only the second time I used my left hand as well as my right. I'd tried it initially, but the razor felt awkward in my left hand and I almost dropped it at one point, so I've just been using my right hand since. I've noticed that I was struggling to get a good grip and good angle on certain parts of my face using just my right hand, so I attempted a shave using both hands today and despite a couple of nicks my left hand managed ok. I might practice just holding a straight razor in my left hand while watching TV, as I have a pretty blunt razor I bought on eBay to use when I'm learning to hone.

Both hands.
Left hand for the right side of my face, right hand for the left side.

Thanked: 190Left/right
Why use both? It was all about getting the best shave possible and when I first saw that my right hand shaved the left side of my face better than the right hand, I thought that my left hand could do the same with the right side of my face.
Once I got use to my left hand putting the blade to the skin and the touch of shaving a few strokes, I moved along the learning curve quickly.
I hope that helps.

Thanked: 6I'm useless with my left hand, so I use only the right hand for shaving.
It's easier for me to shave the right side of my face, than the left. All my nicks go to the left sideburn.

Good Day to all!
I have to agree with the vast majority of posters, as I use both hands to shave with. The initial drawback is that I got two different levels of quality - as my non-dominant hand had to play catch up. But learning to do new things is the spice of life - not to mention the chinese belief that the more things you learn to do with your non-dominant hand - the smarter you are. So shaving with both hands will make you a more interesting and intelligent person - go for it!
=)
Cheers!

For the past few shaves I've been going two handed. I started off slow with just the cheeks then gradually using my left hand for more of my face.
I wanted to learn how to shave with my left hand because I cant see what im doing if i use my right hand to stretch the left side of my face.
