Default just WATER on the third pass

Just curious on how mamy people use just water on the third pass or the inspection pass. I know I have seen this listed in other post somewhere but the Method Shaving video got me fired up to give this a try again. I tried this 6 months ago and the moisture I had then was minimal compared to what I have now. I am sure this is due to improved technique. My razor now looks like a squeegee with the water pouring off my skin, the result is smooth as glass skin.

Two lather passes then wet the skin and I have a very slipper surface film on my skin for the blade, very smooth feeling which surprised me, I though it would of felt a little more coarse.

    Thanks for your imput.

I do that. Not a full pass, but more of a "touch up the rough spots" pass. I find it really lets me get a closer shave, if I'm careful. If I'm not, it really lets me see how red a face can get.

I usually do some degree of final touching-up with just water. Sometimes I'll do my full 3rd pass that way if I've used one of the soaps/creams that leaves your skin feeling slick until you've really rinsed well.

After the second pass I usually wet the areas that need touching up. If there are some bits of lather near the spot, I'll rub the lather over the rough spot. So I end up with a very light coating of lubricant, mostly water.

I used to shave in the shower with a disposable, using bar soap lather for the first pass, then water for the second.

Yes if i am going after super smooth BBS then yes the last pass is always a "water" pass... I put it in the parenthesis because I do just a quick rinse so that the slickness is still there like has been already stated above....

Since I use a scuttle and only do two passes (sensitive skin) on touch ups I pick up the brush with the still warm lather and dab a spot to give it a touch up. Never tried the water only ...yet.. but I will just to be able to say I've done it. Maybe I'll like it better.

I use water only as a last pass but only on my neck, just in front of the glands under there. The rest of the face is always bbs after shaving. I think you might be correct in assuming that your technique has improved over the 6 month period causing you to see the squeege effect of the blade. I think in my case though, the razor has removed the small bumps that form on the skin leaving a super smooth surface.

IF I need to do any touch-up after my once over pass, I only use water.

    * Water pass on spots that need it, when needed.

I usually splash water on my face, and wipe in any remnants of soap from the previous pass. It is mostly water, but I find that the slightest bit of the glycerine soap makes the water pass even more effective.

p.s. Judging by your photo, it appears as though you have some rather tricky spots to shave.
