Didn't they have a commercial in the 1970s or 80s for some brand of electric razor showing it shaving the fuzz off a peach?

Well this one's a blast from the past. I seemed to remember a few threads on the subject and did a search before starting a new thread of my own.
I shaved a balloon. Had it all lathered up for this SOTD pic I posted last Saturday and thought, WTF, let's see what happens. ... Easy as pie. Used a couple of different grips. I even went over the same spot a few times here and there. It ain't hard at all. Who knew.

Thanked: 235I tend to jump when a ballon pops right in front of my face (probably why I wasn't too good at shooting). If I tried to shave one I would probably jump and slice off a chunk of flesh. Shaving my face is a lot less scary.

I had a very dear friend (who passed away last November of cancer.) He used to be a gentlemen's barber in Tennesse. His name was Donald "Beau" Glover. He would tell me stories of when he went to barber school and that was one of their tests; to completely shave a ballon without puncturing it. He said he didn't give straight shave though as they were not in high demand. Great guy.

P.S. Sorry if this is kind of a downer.

Not done it myself but have seen it done.
One of my old school friends back in the late 60s went on to be a barber and he used proper straights as they weren't dangerous then!
He lathered up a balloon and shaved it for us one quiet Saturday afternoon. After that I let him give me a shave!

Thanked: 3164I saw it done on TV quite recently. A celebrity was visiting parts of London, UK, and treated himself to a hot towel shave in one of the gentlemens parlours there - forget which one. They had him line up with the trainees and they shaved balloons. Great stuff.
Regards,
Neil
