Thanked: 346If you use it every day it will eventually swell in diameter to fit the bowl as it absorbs moisture. All soaps do this actually, so if you've ever been annoyed at those ill-fitting wooden bowls this is also the secret with them. The quality of the soap lather improves as this happens, so when you find a soap you like stick with it every day until its gone for best results.
As for MWF, I love the bowl but hate the soap. Doesn't matter what I did or what kind of lather I made - thick, watery, airy, whatever - when it came to the shave it felt like I was shaving through elmer's glue. My suspicion is it's the lanolin reacting with something in the water or my skin. I wound up digging out the MWF and tossing in an upside-down puck of Harris Arlington, which neatly solved the problem.

Once again, I love the bowl too lol. Just in retrospect spending $16-$30 on a brand name bowl seems crazy lol! Like $100 jeans...
The lack of scent is a great thing. I like shave scents that are light and brisk, like citrus, or light and clean/unscented, like MWF.

Thanked: 6Where do you guys order this from? I read the good reviews, searched around but did not have any luck finding a US distributor. I want to try this, Tabac and that stuff made out of Glacier silt.

that's my brain trying to justify spending $16 on something that's sole purpose in life is to hold soap- and I like it and I think the dish is worth having- but was that $16 well spent?
edit:
I guess if we look at the soaps normal price of $20 plus shipping it would make the dish be <$10 which is definitely worth it, but one must consider that the actual opportunity cost at the time was $16 not $10 due to the cheap pucks as well... damn _AD's.

Thanked: 293IMO, MWF is just OK. The lather does not have the consistency I like. I'm on a quest for my favorite soaps and MWF is not one of them. So far, I'm a Tabac, L'Occitane, Speick guy. I hear good things about Harris, Trumpers, and C&S 88 so those are the next on my list.
Oh.. and haslinger honey is a crazy slick cushiony lather too.

Sorry Glen. Were you at least able to pick up one of the cheap bars?
