    Default It continues to improve

Well I've been at the straight-razor gig for about a year and a half now.. and still learning and seems that each shave is just a bit better!

Just some words of hope for those that are still struggling starting out.

My lather is getting better and more consistent, as is my stropping which I think is the biggest thing I have improved recently. I'm actually nearing a decent shave going WTG only, which was not feasible just a few months ago.

Very good news! I personally shaved with a DE for over a year before finally taking the plunge (I just couldn't talk myself out of it anymore). I have to say that I think my straight experience would have been absolutely miserable if I hadn't already known some really good beard prep and lather technique. I can't imagine trying to learn both while also learning to use a straight!

My hat is off to you, Mr. bbshriver

I had been using a boar brush and soap from Walgreens before switching to a straight... It at least helped me get the idea down, but badger and top of the line soaps are much better!

Thanks. I've only been at it for two weeks, and although I feel like I understand all the fundamentals, they have yet to manifest themselves in the perfect shave. I guess I have a lot more shaving to do!

Keep shaving and learning. It will happen and we have all been through it. Don't force it and let the technique come through. SRP is here for you. Keep reading up on the Wiki.

The feeling of a great BBS shave is absolutely awesome and addictive and well worth the effort.
