The change was made with Pearlduck so that would probably be the 1950s I would reckon. I think the later Beau Brummels also used the cracked ice celluloid scales similar to what Pearlduck used.

I know it's years later, but I have a Beau Brummel. Haven't shaved with it...yet. Searching SRP and other places for more info on BB.
