Stypic is a good thing, although I prefex the Shavex Block myself, that does the trick much better then the power or stypic pencil. I've never tried a Feather straight, the de's are very smooth to me. I think some of my straights are much sharper then a Feather blade imho. Perhaps its in my head, but coming off of a progression of Naniwas all the way down to .5 diamond film, that sucker will take some skin off if your not very careful. I have to agreed I prefer the real steel over disposables, however there is a use for them when you travel.

    Cheers

Well I guess I should report how my first feather experience went.

I like it, and it is way sharp. Does not feel like a TI or Dovo.

Silly me I tried it a day after experimenting with a new shave cream
that left me with a minor rash. Yes it shaved some of those little
rash/ bumps off and I ended up with pink lather. Not so pink that
I needed a styptic pencil however.

I do believe that I have developed a hone and strop style that matches
my face. Not too dull, not too sharp, just right. Out of the box it
starts out sharper than I "like".

The moral is face preparation and sanitation is job one.

    Hint for the day
    Shave first then
