I have several vintage strops, all with nicks. The big deal is when you get a flap, then its time for the crazy glue or finish cutting it out.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

I've only used one hand since day one. Didn't find a reason to use both hands and murder myself. Never had a problem using only one hand.

Thanked: 530I only use my left -non dominant- hand to get the very top of my left sideburn, the straightaway, and I don't have much of a problem... I also cut my sideburns up higher than most anyone I know, so I could conceivably skip that step, but straight razor shaving is too enjoyable to shorten steps

I'm sure your razor will be fine on that strop.

As long as there are no flaps that will cause the razor to grab your strop, it's not that bad. I still use my first strop, which by now looks fairly bad from all the nicks and cuts when I was learning to strop.

Thanked: 326Mistakes happen mate. You're not alone. My strop unfortunately suffered 50 nicks including miniscule flap. This was me taking my time but not overly slow. I keep in mind to just employ right speed with just weight of the blade. Lynn's DVD helped me a lot. With experience comes speed. Just like with shaving take your time. Best of luck
