Default Thinking about buying a Feather Razor?

A week and a half ago my Feather DX Midnightwood razor arrived and it is simply AMAZING!
Too many people mentioned those blades were less forgiving than death BUT its not like that. Sure I bleed a little because I had some zits and the razor gave them a nice cut but my face was really smooth with only a WTG pass. After the first blade I decided to go WTG and then XTG and guess what? SMOOTHEST SHAVE EVER! I had no need to use an ATG pass, the shave was simply flawless! So these razors are a bit on the expensive side ( I bought mine from a member at $125, usual price for mine $250) but the shave you get is amazing, I simply can't believe it. SO JUST BUY IT like.... NOW!!! Seriously do yourself a favor and buy it, I bet it's gonna be the best gift of this year.

P.S. Just for comparison I was using a DE razor, used feather, personna and another brand.

PPS. Get a hot bath, use lather, enjoy it, get a clean shave and watch the ladies lust for you, thank you very much.

Feathers are amazing. I used mine this morning.
Today was the third shave on the blade and it was
a rather nice shave with a good smelling but only so
    so soap.

I started with a "Feather". I'm glad I did, it taught me how to go very light and not press. By the time I switched to a real straight my shaving techniques were improved to a very high degree. The transition was smooth and flawless.

I am sure you have heard that shaving with a real straight is much smoother and much more forgiving. It's absolutely true! I would never speak negatively about the "Feather". I gave my entire Feather system to my son and he swears by it. He loves it, and I can't get him to switch. He doesn't want to be bothered with keeping the edge sharp and stropped. Oh, well, to each his own.

    Good luck with your Feather.

    Default Feather Razors

    Gentlemen,

My Feather AC has always given me a good shave. That's why I keep it in the rack. Of course, the only time I use it is if in a rush. When traveling, I also pack it in my dopp kit, along with a Merkur travel DE, as a supplement to a regular straight.

Whether the Feather is less forgiving than a regular straight is a moot point with me, since I use extreme care with both razors.

In my overall razor lineup, however, neither the Feather nor the double edge replaces the regular straight. As much as I like my Feather and the Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" barley, I like my regular straights far more.

Among other reasons, it's the alluring romance that adds to the pleasure of shaving with a straight razor. Think of it, gentlemen: what better way to start the day than with making warm lather in the scuttle and then stropping a straight razor?

    Regards,

    Obie

The straight razor feather blade shaves nicely for me. I also have an el cheapo disposable straight razor that uses a blade that last just as long as the feather blade. Both blades are made in Japan and seem to have the same edge and feel.

Either way, I have both and I am happy with both. The feather is overall more refined and a better conversation piece though. However, I enjoy lending out the el cheapo brand when a friend wants to try straight shaving, so it does come in handy for me.

I also include them in my rotation of fixed straight razors. Its alway nice to blow off the stropping once in a while.
