I always wipe my razor on the palm of my opposite hand. When I finish a pass (meaning WTG or ATG or XTG), I rinse the lather off my hand and rinse my blade under hot water. Then I reapply lather and repeat

I rinse with hot water, both during and after the shave. It helps that the faucet is one of those high, arching ones, so there's a good bit of clearance. Haven't dinged a razor yet. Also, I grip the razor between the blade and the scales and don't let water get anywhere near the pivot.

I wipe on a flannel during the shave and rinse only at the end except when I head shave when I rinse, more or less throughout due to the quantity. I've tried rinsing during the daily shave but have always ended up wiping. For some reason I derive immense satisfaction from the view of whiskers in lather, punctuates the shave in a way that I find difficult to explain to myself, let alone here. The second (for me, final) pass when the lather contains all but dust, I find particularly satisfying.

Rinse or wipe
Obie,
I do not consider trivial the issue of wiping or rinsing the blade for it is a component of the whole experience of wet shaving. I appreciate your initial post on this issue. That said, I do both when shaving, I keep a folded barber's towel in front of me and when the blade needs to be cleaned, I rinse it under hot water and wipe it dry. I use care not to get the scales nor the pivot pin wet when rinsing. SHAVE ON.

Warm water rinse then on to the next shaving stroke -- simply because I prefer the sensation of a warm blade (vs really hot or room-temp/cold) against my skin.

I rinse the blade with hot water while I'm shaving. When I'm done shaving I wipe it off. Just make sure that you are aware of where your edge is at all times and you should be ok.

Thanked: 335Shave, rinse warm, shake; shave, rinse warm, shake... When done, rinse hot, wipe dry, put on shelf for tomorrow. The little shake to get rid of any extra water on the blade between strokes is done when the razor is removed from the vicinity of the faucet and then only done spine down so were I to strike the faucet with the razor is would be with the spine side and not the fine side so hopefully the only damage done would be the ego contusions and edema from acute embarassment.
It's worked so far and it saves me from having to wash more towels. While I don't mind doing laundry, I don't live for it.
