Jack, you're going to find a cold water shave beneficial. In my opinion, this system is designed for cold water shaving.

Which page does it talk about cold water shaving. I can't find it. Also to sum up. Essentially use hot water to soften the beard, finish with cold water on the face, soak the brush in cold water, lather with cold, etc. Or do you soften the beard with cold water as well? Or just skip the softening?

After only 4 hours of sleep (grumpy teething baby) for days and days, the cold water shave, for me, not only provides a superior result but also wakes me up to the point i feel comfortable holding the razor. Nothing wakes me up quicker than splashing ice cold water on my face.

Well, YMMV, but what's worked well for me is using plain old conditioner on my whiskers while I'm in the shower. That's the only softening I've found necessary. Then I shave as soon as I get dried off from the shower. I wet the soap wth cold water, ditto the brush, load up, wet my face with cold water, lather on my face and shave. And I just use what comes out of the cold tap. I've read of some other folks actually adding ice cubes or putting water in the fridge ahead of time to get it really cold. I haven't found that to be necessary. I think the idea is just to use water that's cooler than your skin so you avoid getting capillaries enlarged and enflaming your face.

Cold water start to finish. Gets the bristles standing up. Don't need no "stinking softening".

Yep, me too!!! I use ice. I Fili the sink with hot water and soak the brush, lather and shave. If I get hot from that great warm lather, I take a drink from that glass of ice water sitting by the sink.

I tried cold, just ain't happening for me. First time I ever had razor burn, but, at least I tried!!

I tried it tonight. It wasn't going very well. I think part of it may have been that I was cold to begin with. I may have to wait until its 90 degrees with 90% humidity, opposed to 20 degrees and 0%. Lol. I also have very sensitive skin so it may be best to wait until its refreshing to use cold water.

I have been using cold tap water for face lathered shaving since the new year roughly. There have been some -20C days in there and we have low humidity as the furnace is most definitely on. Switching to cold water shaving has created no problems and I like the simplicity of it.

Tried it again today. Went much better than yesterday. I actually got a good shave and the little stubble i have is much softer than stubble from hot water shaving. I'm assuming because of the angle of the cut. Interesting to play around and nice to have multiple options.
