Default I finally ordered my first straight razor and accessories - Did I miss anything???

    Ok,

Let me know if I am missing any of the basics.

    What I ordered today:

    1. Thiers-Issard Evide Sonnant Extra White 6/8" - to be sharpened by Lynn
    2. Pinaud/Clubman Styptic Pencil (never needed one with a DE, but just in case)
    3. Classicshaving shave soap (I needed a new mug and the soap came with it, so hopefully I will like the soap)

I will be ordering the following from Tony tomorrow:
    1. Heirloom #1 BEST Wide 3 inch Hanging Strop
    2. 4 sided pre-pasted paddle strop

I already have an entry level badger brush that came in a kit which I have been using, as well as shave oil (might stop using that) and aftershave. I am waiting a while on the hone, so other than that have I forgotten anything??

    Thanks!!!

Nope, unfortunately your set for life...but I won't tell anyone. You'll like the soap.

Good choice on the razor. I have the same one from Classic.

The classic soap is very good. I use the coconut and fresh lime.
it is my plans to get the TI Evide Sonnat as well in the future.
I currently have a Dovo Special 6/8 in transit from Lynn.

Best of luck in your new found addiction. It will only get
    worse.

    Regards,

You should be just fine. You've made excellent choices for your start up. Be careful not to ding the razor's edge when shaving and you won't need a hone at all, the pasted strop will keep your razor shave ready.

If you pay attention to where the edge is in relation to your skin and go slow you won't use that styptic too often. Although others will argue against this, I did say slow and pay attention. I made more use of the styptic with the DE.

Classicshaving soap did not work for me, we have very hard water here and the lather was a bit thin but it won't be the last soap/cream you buy no matter how it lathers.

Yes you seem to have it all. As Vlad said don't ding it and you most probably won't need one. The styptic was a good pickup, I don't believe anyone gets by without a nick now and again. Just got a little one this AM using a Lynn sharpened wedge.(Mind you he sharpened it in July)

Tony's actually got some cool new mugs himself if you need one. After that, it looks like you're set. Then comes the colecting of soaps and after shaves, razors and hones. Ahhhh, it's a good life.

I picked up a mug from classic that included the soap. It was pretty cheap, and I am trying to lesson the overall startup costs as much as possible without sacrificing to much quality. That way I wont get yelled at over spending to much...hopefully
