you see,its about a sharp blade and shaving technique, after that its just personal preference. the problem with this argument is everyone is right. how can you argue about personal preference? i like both and get good shaves from either. i could use dawn dish soap and still get a good shave lol.

Well, there's certainly a difference in the lathers. Whether you're satisfied with it or not is a personal preference. So maybe the king is just wearing one of those skin-colored bodysuits like the iceskaters do

Give me ambiguity or...give me something else. I wouldn't hesitiate to shave with Barbasol or any other canned goo. I'm just saying, if I have a choice I'd much rather use soaps and brushes.

Second, I've never had a puck of soap last less than 5 years, so the soaps are a much cheaper option. I know that others here burn through soap much faster than I do, and there are high end soaps that cost more, but even then I suspect that the soap option works out to be cheaper.
These are my thoughts as well.

Same here. Like Lynn says, this is an art. I like the rituals and tools that accompany that art.

Environmentally friendly like the biodegradeable plastic containers that take 100000 years to decompose that creams come it?

Weird, I just stumbled on this thread and I used Barbasol once last week for the first time in years. I was running late and didn't want to deal with lathermaking, brush rinsing, brush flicking, etc. You know...the stuff that all told adds about one minute to your routine. I looked over and saw my old buddy, Barbasol, sitting on the counter.

I gave the years old can a quick shake and the thick foam didn't disappoint. Like Old Faithful, I knew I could count on my Barbasol! Sure it wasn't exactly luxurious, sure it sorta disappeared after a rather quick stropping, but I'll tell you what: for a single pass quick morning shave, I'll keep my can around another few years. I know it'l keep working!

Actually, later that day I noticed that my skin felt excellent. Excellent as in exactly the same way that MWF (and nothing else I've used so far) does. I can't explain it, but some of you MWF lovers might know what I'm talking about. Sure enough, I got home and checked the can. The orange can I have is "sensitive" and has lanolin added. I think it might be worth picking up for nostalgic MWF fans who want to get out the door a minute earlier.

If you are using glycerine soaps in plastic tubs and are not re using them you are cheating yourself. Melt some more glycerine into them or use them for storage containers.

+1 on re-using. Years ago I collected a core of a half dozen or so empty soap jars from The Shave Den, (IMHO) these are the perfect size, ergonomically correct etc. Every since then, I simply order refills (which are much cheaper both in terms of purchase price and shipping costs) and grate them using a cheese grater. I press the shavings into the TSD jars and PRESTO! When the soap gets low, I simply grate another puck over the top of what is left or completely empty out the jar and use it for a different brand of soap. Granted, the ceramic MWF container is much prettier but my alternative is cheaper and reuses something that otherwise would become landfill fodder.
The older I get, the better I was

To me, that sounded like a lesser of the two evils kind of deal. Big metal can with plastic lining the inside, outside, and top. Or maybe a tiny container.
