Interesting posts here.
Barbasol is great when I am in a hurry. If I find myself that short of time, though, I will use a safety razor instead of a straight.
I much prefer a proper shave, and so I am rarely in such a hurry.

Thanked: 433Over a year and a half since my first post and I haven't used it again with a straight, but have a few times with a DE. It functions and it is what it is.

Thanked: 1I have been a badger brush and cream user for several years and I once scoffed at the idea of using Barbasol. However, I have been in barber school for the past 3 months and badger brushes are not allowed (in school or barber shops in this country) for sanitary reasons. Our school does not have a hot lather machine, so when clients come in for a shave, we have to use canned shaving cream. I purchased a vintage can warmer that heats up the Barbasol before it distributes it and I have been getting excellent results.
I prep the clients face with a hot towel and NANCY BOY preshave oil. Then I apply the hot Barbasol and shave the client using a DOVO shavette with DERBY blades. The results are fantastic. I have shaved clients with steel wire beards - the oil and Barbasol work great together.
My wife is a vegan and out of respect to her we only keep cruelty free products in the house. That means all my badger brushes had to go. I use NANCY BOY preshave oil and hot Barbasol on my own face with my WADE & BUTCHER straight razor. The results are excellent. BBS smooth shave every time.
I realize Barbasol has many chemicals in it that may not be good for your face but the fact of the matter is that it is a product made in the USA, is cruelty free, & provides an outstanding shave. I used to be a real snob regarding shave products. I have obviously changed my perspective.

Thanked: 1Mühle have developed a fibre they call "Silvertip fibre". It's completely vegan and said to come close to a proper badger silvertip... You might want to give that a go.
You can find their own description at https://www.muehle-shaving.com/shop/...7/100/39_K_257
Cheers,

Thanked: 220I used to use Barbasol in the red can before I started shaving like a man, the only use I see for it now is possibly having a pie fight with it.
