    Default Very strange question....

Ok, this is probably going to sound very strange, but I have to know if I am going nuts or not.

Since I have switched from regular desposibles to me DE (and soon my SR) I have noticed that my beard (which was never very thick or fast growing) seems to be growing in more course and more quickly.

Now I might be losing it, but I just have to know, is it my imagination or has anyone else noticed this since they started shaving with a DE and/or SR?

i was feeling somewhat similar but then i began to wonder if i ever really bothered paying attention before and if i ever truly knew how heavy/course my beard was. shaving use to be something i did in a thoughtless rush, never felt my face afterward, if it looked shaved it was, guess with that i just concluded this is how me beard always was, i just never slowed down to notice before.

The only way it could actually grow back faster is
if you aren't shaving as close with the DE as you
were the disposables. My quess is that you are
just more aware of the growth.

Once you switch to the SR I am sure you will enjoy
it so much that you will start rubbing Rogain on you
face so you will be able to shave 3 times per day.

Your are definetly paying more attention. also as I look back now, my growth and beard have taken on changes, mostly in color. what use to be jet black is now white in some areas, yeah, getting old and stress will do that, but coarser I doubt. I know that since I have been on these boards,i have been paying more and more attention to my shaving, taking longer, and I find myself constantly feeling were the problems are, smoother areas, etc throughout the day, If someone sees me they will think I'm nuts. Going back to your question anatomically our hair will not grow coarser because of straight razor (unless your shaving twice or three times a day.)

I think you're just more aware of the growth because you're checking your face more. I started such a long time ago that I don't remember, but I hear guys talking about this all the time.

I'll go along with you are probably paying more attention, but it may also be that you are not getting quite as "close" a shave as you once were. Moving from a cartridge which allows you to "bear down" as you shave to a DE where using pressure is not healthy could also be a factor.

I am definitely getting the closest shave I have ever gotten by far with the DE, and I get much less irritation than I was getting with the desposables. When I first started with a DE I probably used a bit too much pressure, but now I am pretty comfortable with everything.

Default I believe they call the act of continuously

rubbing your face after a great shave....faceturbation.

I think that's why God made arms and straight razors. LOL

DISCLAIMER: I did not coin the term "faceturbation". I believe it was another member of this forum. Accordingly, I will give credit blindly to whomever came up with the term.
