Camellia oil question
After I shave, I use an incredibly soft, lint-free baby diaper to dry my razor blade off. I let the razor air-dry during the rest of my clean-up. Then, using my finger, I gently apply camellia oil (purchased from SRD, so we know it's not the oil) to the razor blade. I've noticed that despite getting a nice, even coat of oil on the blade, w/in a few minutes the oil coat is not uniform. If I take my finger and even it out, w/in a few minutes it again is not uniform. (The oil is not beading-up like there is water left on the blade.)
If you go to my page and look at my photos, you can get the sense of what I'm saying - the light doesn't reflect uniformly from the blade in the pictures.
Am I using too much oil? Does it matter?

Hello Greg
I have noticed the exact same thing on my Dovo Prima Klang. I put several drops on mine and spread it out as evenly as I can. I have found that if you use a bit more than you think you need, you can coat the blade. I hope this helps and I am sure others will be responding to help as well.

Guys it is oil it would not stay in same location. just put it on and forget about it.Mainly what you do just coat very thin layers of oil on the blade stop the contact with air(oxygenation). that is all.
hope this helps.
That's what I thought, but I still have "new car" paranoia
I know the feeling. I have my new Dovo Prima Klang that I have used a handful of times and a new Dovo Micarta Inox that has never been used yet.

You know, I used to use the oil after each shave and to be honest, it seemed like a waste. Now, Razors out in rotation, air dry, then get wiped down with a Silicone treated gun cloth. I only use Camelia oil on razors that are being stored for a longer period of time. I've had no problems....

Thanked: 1195Judging from the OP's description it sounds like typical behaviour of an oil, so nothing to worry about.
In fact I don't use camelia, I use heavy mineral oil and it behaves/protects exactly the same but at a cheaper cost.
