under arms
I see now why I was given the advise to use a double edge on my under arms it is not a task to be taken lightly. You just don't have enough hands to do it alone (at least I don't). My husband did it for me and it is a great shave but wow angles holding your arm just right it is to much for one person. When and if I have help I will be all for it but I will never try it solo. One thing I did find out is I realy don't like the sound it makes when you shave I have very good hearing and I hear it on my legs but it is not loud my under arms it is just too close to my ears I guess and guys must here it all the time on the face I don't know if I could do that.

I think a lot of guys like the sound!
With my wife, I found that having her point her elbow both as high and wide as she could made for an almost flat underarm. Sort of like reaching down the back of your neck as far as you can, then also trying to turn your shoulder out to the side. Made DE shaving easy (of course, I was the one doing the shaving).
Incidentally, one of the guys here in chat told me he'd shaved his underarms with a straight. Just out of curiosity, I tried to see if I could get my underarms that flat, and I don't nearly have the necessary flexibility in my shoulder.

Ya ger did mine and that is basically how I had to point my elbow and turn my shoulder he is the only person I would allow to take a straight to me

I do my wife's armpits about once a week and it's most certainly a two person job otherwise the stretching isn't very good. The tricky part is having the wife turn her head to the right while I do her left armpit...any curiosity on her part could bump the scales and would spell certain disaster.

The idea of shaving that part of my body with a straight razor on such soft skin is horrifying to me.....

I bet the smaller blade length of a Japanese stile razor would make it a bit easier. I can't wait to try one. I have always had trouble with the area where the caller bones almost meet at the base of the neck and form that small hallow I just can't seem to get the right angle on the blade.
I can't imagen the contusions women must have to go through to get a proper shave on some areas.

Now, if I recall correctly..THe habit of shaving legs and underarms came from the Far east and Ex Soldiers came back from tours of duty in the Far East they requested the same hygiene habits on their American counterparts ....So the questions begs, how did they do 80 years ago..Surely there was a method in place that was not dangerous and time consuming?
