So glad I converted to straights.
Well it's nearly two years since I started on straights. My reason for using straights was one of economy (Ha that's a laugh,it's cost me nearly £700.00 so far Lol.) but I am finally enjoying it much more than I thought I would.I now get consistently close comfortable shaves every morning and have learned a load of stuff along the way! I didn't think I would get to the stage of being confident in the blades sharpness but now I pick up each and every razor according to the day of the week knowing I'll get a great shave. I even found myself feeling my chin at three in the morning and thinking "Aw its still smooth since this morning" but happily it was rough enough for a shave when 7 am came around .
An apple a day keeps the doctor away....if you throw it hard enough.

It takes a silly amount of dedication but those shaves that last two days and remain so smooth and comfy are really amazing. Its a little bit of a lifestyle change.
I am very glad that you posted and also mentioned the timeframe involved. I think some people really underestimate the learning curve/challenge.

$1,115! that's quite a lot of dollars. Personally I have two dovos so I have managed to get away from the RAD.

Best razor I ever owned I gave away to a newbie. Paid $10 for it off ebay and honed it up. That was back in the day before they came back in popularity though.

Congratulations. This is serious testimony to the joys and benefits of shaving with a straight razor.
I would love to have so many of us that some good Sheffield companies come back into existence. I love my Solingen razors, but most of my Sheffields are "go to" razors. Don't know why - but I just love the feel of them.

same reason I gave it a bash and now that reason is one of the lesser reasons I enjoy it so much. I envy your two day shaves, I'm not there yet but, believe me I'll get there - especially considering I just got 10 razors off ebay for a total of £80! - its not RAD! I'm learning different techniques with different razors!... Ah who am I kiddin'... I dont know what it is, but they're really shiny!
and I would bet 100 trillion yen that over your lifetime £700 would still be cheaper if you were buying mach's for yer shaving. it costs £10-14 for 10 shaves, How can you enjoy shaving if it costs so much and is so wasteful?
God I love straight shaving!
