Have you tried rolling strokes where you change the angle on the hone?

Dont give up on the razor before you send it to your favorite restore guy
May be the tip of the blade is beyond repair but i think it deserve a second opinion
(plus you get to bug someone else with it for a while)

Do send it out. Someone could turn it into what we call around here a "Coochie Razor" for getting at those confined personal spaces.

On the bright side, at least the razor didn't cut off any body parts on the way down And you learned a valuable lesson!
Hopefully the razor can be repaired. I would hate to have damaged a $200+ razor and know that it was not fixable.
