Talking Bleedin like a stuck pig........

    Alright gang heres the skinny,
Im a newb and told everybody I would give an update after my first official SR shave.

As you can guess from the title of this post, much practice is still needed. Sent my old Torrey straight to Don and Lynn for honing and man is it sharp. Didnt shave my neck or under my chin with my SR due to the nearby location of the jugular. So from the chin up I cut my self 3 times...twice not so bad and one gusher.

Think i need to work on my angle and pullin my skin tighter. Bandaids and all, still cant wait til my next SR shave. Thanks for all the advice.....keep it comin!

I have also cut my face up pretty bad on my first week of shaving with a SR.
Noticed that the nicks are getting fewer each time I shave.
I think it is because I am unlearning the way I used to shave and replacing it with a new way.

I highly recommend getting a Styptic Pencil for those cuts. They work miracles in concealing the fact that you've gotten nicks!

You have started down the path Yes the relearning curve can be a bugger at times, but as long as you learn something after each shave you'll get better fast

    Congrats on your first voyages

We've all been there, no worries!

It really is just practice. You'll find that the shave quality improves and the number of slices drops right off after just a few shaves, and the enjoyment factor goes right up each time as well!

Good luck and keep us posted!

This is a hobby/obsession we have all bled for. Keep at it, it is worth the journey!!

If you're not bleeding than you're not shaving close enough.

DTrain I know your pain and enjoyment. I started at the beginning of November and also had a gusher and two other cuts. Give them some time to heal, I didn't shave for a week to let them close up. But keep trying, if you feel uncomfortable just stop and finish that section with your old way of shaving. It is now about 1 month later and I am doing a complete WTG with the straight clean up and all. Just stick with it and everything else will come.

    Hi DTrain,

+1 on the Styptic Pencil as aeon said. I would also suggest getting an Alum Bloc. It tends to sting a bit but I find that for small nicks it works great.

I using a straight for a little over a year. I still get weepers and the odd nick some more serious than others. It does get better with practice.

No matter how bad the nick is, I still have a smile on my face after each shave.

    Stuart.
