Thanked: 45Ceremony??
So I have now crossed the 4 month mark and haven't used my Mach 3 for probably 3 months now. So it was sitting there looking lonely and realized that I probably won't ever need it again. Seems like just throwing it in the trash is to....ummm....plain.
Did any of you celebrate an official passing of the torch from Cartridge razors? I'm thinking some sort of ceremony that involves fire or crushing of the Mach 3.

.take a shotgun and use your old fu... "shaving-machine" as a target
That sounds like a ceremony!

Nope, I just joyfully threw mine in the bin safe in the knowledge that I would never need it again!
Even if I couldnt use a straight I'd stick with DE's. No way am I ever going to buy a cartridge razor, horrible things!

Well, I passed my M3 down, to one of our sons. He doesn´t want to take the leap to DE yet and straights scare him ... So I´m taking one step at the time

I remember the day I knew I would be able to shave exclusively with straight razors from then on if I chose to. It was and still is a very nice feeling

I started shaving with straights in 2008 and I just found my old cartridge razor in the back of the shave cabinet today and threw it out this morning!
It was funny coming across this thread because I felt like there should be more to it than just chucking it in the bin, but that's what I did and it felt terrific!
Let us know what you decided to do.

Ceremony for a Mach 3? I don't think so...that piece of junk is not worth celebrating...even if it is to commemorate the event of moving to the DE. So, the best ceremony I can think of is appropriate enough for this the following:

I still have mine and use it when I travel. Not happy about it but sometimes it is just easier when I travel. I guess it is time to get a double edge.

Hmmmm. Mine still sit in the draw. I too use a DE when pressed for time. I guess I just don't throw stuff out...?

Didn't toss mine because...
I hate to admit, but I have 2 Fusions. The first one was from the drug store. The second was has a history related to my switch to straights: I've wet shaved for years and wanted a badger brush. This led to buying a matching faux tortoise brush, stand, and handle for my Fusion. On a whim I decided to add a matching DOVO to the set. The irony is the pretty handled Fusion has only been used 2 times - as touch up after my first 2 straight shaves. Hard to throw the thing away as it wasn't too cheap.
I'll probably not toss either. I took the drug store one to Sudan with me last month - just too plain scared to take even a crummy straight there as they confiscate stuff for no reason. http://straightrazorpalace.com/shave...tml#post690171
Despite that, it is a great sense of accomplishment knowing you're not dependent on the big corporations anymore.
