    Learning to Shave and Hone a straight razor at the same time is like trying to learn how to drive and tune up your car at the same time

    Do what works for you, and laugh at those that cut themselves doing things THE 'right way'

    If your shave is good for you, you are not doing anything wrong - Rules are for fools.

    Not an original of mine, but from somewhere in the dim recesses....

    The importance of an event can be determined by the number of times a gentleman cuts himself shaving in preparation for it.

    this one comes from Robert Anton Wilson. I was reminded of it during last nights shave because I sliced myself quite nicely while thinking about this gig, or that gig, or what tunes to write, etc., instead of focusing on the task at hand.

    Never whistle while you're pi$$ing.

    Hold razor lightly,
    feel it through hair, not through skin;
    floating on lather

    A straight shaver without a hone is like a blacksmith without an anvil.

    The experience of shaving with a straight razor has little to do with getting a shave.

    The perfect razor (brush, hone, soap, strop, etc.) for you is the one you are currently thinking about obtaining. This is Satan speaking.

    Shaving with a straight has much more in common with Tai Chi, meditation, fly-fishing, prayer, or the Eucharist than it does with shaving with a plastic disposible or an electric.

    When you shave with a straight, you give honor to history, self-sufficiency, your ancestors, and yourself.

    Drive and think quickly. Shave and make love slowly.
