And it is always your mistake too, even if it is someone elses. Your mistake in that case is not paying attention. I'm a biker.

Now to the whole lolly in the mouth thing, I did hear a story about a barber who used a rubber ball to assist in a clean shave. I also heard that every so often a particularly nervous customer would end up swallowing the thing. He is reputed to have stated that the customers always returned it the next day though. That wouldn't happen in your case though, I don't think.

I most definitely learned a lesson. My son was joking with me the last time we compared our str8 shaving when I told him that I was getting more comfortable wielding the str8. He told me that is when I would mess up, getting too relaxed. Even though I believe he was referring to technique, I'm sure he'll get a silent (maybe verbal) "I told ya so."

Admit it....you're proud of it! I'm still sporting my first cut in the form of a light scar.

Although I'd like not to repeat it, I'm okay with it

    Wow. Just... Wow.

I remember taking my first ever held-in-hand dinky little str8 edge in hand, having finished well on my finest hone, and scraping down on my moustache area and gauging out a little three dimensional ribbon of flesh. Not even a cut, exactly. A dainty little ribbon, how cute. It could have been attributable to a couple of drinks before hand.. or simply not paying close enough attention for that one stroke (rest of the shave was great).

A piece of candy? Inexcusable! But at least now we know how you got your name ('cuz all your razors are red..).

I have a habit of nicking (cutting?) my ear lobe every now and again. That is not too much fun. nothing like a reminder to pay more attention.
