So try something different
OK, so yesterday I subscribed to a thread "Whats the hardest area for you to shave" and like many others I have been having recent difficulties with a small area to the right of my chin. While I'm not going to discuss my mental health issues in detail I have seen LOTS of psychologists over the last seventeen years and "try something different" is something of a stock reply.
Now this morning while shaving I went into something of analytical overdrive and found my solution. I am in the "both hands" shave camp and noticed that the left side of my chin, which I had shaved right handed, was super smooth. OK, so if that works, lets get at the right side of the chin with the left and ... HEY PRESTO!
So I guess to sum up, If it aint broke dont fix it, but if it aint working "Try something else!"

Nice find. There really are no set rules how anyone should shave, finding what works for you is the magic in this hobby. Those moments when you come across a solution, a way to make your shave smoother, more comfortable or just nicer are golden. I myself also cross a little, I shave atg (upward stroke) under the chin crossed, it's just what comes naturally to me.

Hello, Ryan:
Well done, sir. Yes, improvisations do quite well in the world of the straight razor. As you say, also trying something new to see how it works.
Regards,
Obie

great job! you just have to figure out which way the hair grows and attempt to shave across it.
if there's a will there's a way.

On another note, if it isn't broken... break it and make it better!
