Off hand!!!
Well after about 2 weeks of using a straight almost exclusively. I have found that I get a closer shave with my left hand on the left side. Which really surprised me because like most people I cant use my off hand for much of anything else. And just to be clear the right side is still smoother on a with the grain pass than with previous methods. Wondering if I am a fluke??? Or is this normal for a newby?

Good going.
This seems to be much like my experience when I began using my off hand. I think with time that muscle memory plays a part but during the first dozen or so shaves I think it is due to paying very close attention to the stroke. Like you I cant use my left paw for much else so when holding a sharp blade to my face with it I think I was in a zone of concentation overload.

Thanked: 1195You will find most of us will say the left side is smoother when shaved with the left hand .
But of course it's all down to practice, like anything else. So, on the flip side, if you were bound and determined to shave with your dominant hand only, with practice your face would be just as smooth as using both hands.

My left side is generally smoother as well, I thought it was strange but then I realized when going XTG or ATG I do use my right hand on my left side so it makes sense, I guess.

Thanked: 993Whatever happens, I believe that the two handed approach is the way to go.
It sure had a learning curve, but now I'm glad I did it....
