One Way or The Other!
Shaving for about 5 months, priding myself in only one minor cut. That was due to turning my face into the blade, as I was admiring the close shave that I had just finished.
Today it was time to pay the man; I had finished shaving and was wiping the razor off. Left middle finger between the blade and scales. Pushed the blade down and well, you can guess. Unfortunately for my finger, the razor was one that I had obtained from Sham last month, honed by him; the cut was fast and deep.
The only upside was,the first-aid lesson given to my 14 year old son on how to treat a wound.

Thanked: 993Ohhhh, that made my feet hurt.
Well, at least your 14 year old got some practical experience in first aid.
Hopefully you heal up nice and quick.

I have cut myself many times while shaving, but few times while actually shaving. When the blade is moving across my face, it has been a long time since I cut myself. But, just like you, between strokes with the blade, when my mind is somewhere else, somehow I manage to do embarrassing things with that blade. Usually, to my fingers also.
We are all in this together, my friend...

I feel your pain. Even when using a rounded blade I still manage to cut either my upper lip or nose every time I shave. Eventually I'll have shorn both of them off. I'll look funny, but at least shaving will be easier!

I can't speak to shaving with a straight since I've only done it once, but I have never nicked myself seriously while shaving with a DE. The only serious cut I got was when I dropped it and tried to catch it. It dug right into the tip of my finger. I can tell you now that I'll never try to catch a dropped razor ever again... especially a straight. Seems like this kind of stuff is a rite of passage. Just know that you're not alone
