True, this must be very nice and good for both of you!
I think TI horn scales would be way to heavy for this blade. You can check Revisors homepage, they've got cheap and nice looking plastic scales for sale (pre drilled ) + they deducte tax for people outside Europe. If wood, you need a light weight wood, for this blade, I think.Last edited by Mikael; 09-18-2011 at 08:52 AM.

+1 to everyone passing the art on to the next generation. It's my sons 3rd birthday this weekend and I was just thinking a few days ago only 13 more years till I can teach him to shave with a straight. I donno I think I'm going to loose patience and end up with the only 3 year old that knows how to shave with a straight.... Maybe open my own barbers shop who wouldn't wanna be shaved by a 3 year old.
cheers

Thanked: 485Hmmmm. I didn't consider the weight of horn. I think I'm going to get someone to make me horn scales, rather than off the shelf anyway. It is a light blade. I don't really want another razor with wooden scales, I want a range of types, I'm still trying to stop at 7 max (if I can!). Not sure about plastic???
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Hi Carl,
Good job on passing you skills on. It's something that needs to be done more. I was fortunate my Dad taught me to shave (not with a straight though) and it's something I look forward to with my son Nicholas (2 1/2) but at the moment he just helps me lather up and starts laughing when he sticks the shave brush into my eye I wouldn't change a thing
All the best
Sam.

It looks like your son has taken as much enjoyment out of this as you have, Carl - way to go! I sort of taught myself to shave first time round, although I did use to sit and watch my dad and he'd sometimes let me soap up and pretend I was shaving with him. I also taught myself (well, I'm still teaching myself) to use a straight razor. I'm going to see my dad in a couple of weeks and I think I'll take along a razor and some supplies and see if I can't get him to try it out - I think he'd quite enjoy it! There's nothing that says the son can't teach the father a thing or two!
