My first shave with a Feather dx razor
I have to say it was quite possibly the best shave I've ever had with a razor, str8 or otherwise & not one nick or cut let alone slice. It's a simple but marvelous piece of engineering solely designed to effortlessly remove hair from your face.In one respect it has let me know how unsharp my str8's are & how much farther I have to go to get a truly honed edge,I know these are machined blades but not even a tug or pull from the blade.I did on some occasion think my technique was not up to scratch as it's only been a year of using str8's & after using the feather i can concur that it's my honing skills that are holding me back.Since starting to use str8's they should carry a beware of becoming addicted warning as my bathroom cabinet far exceeds whats in my good ladies side & continues to grow, razors, soaps, oils, aftershaves old & new and whole host of other goodies.
Only wish I had started years ago as shaving is now a pleasure not a chore.
Keep up the good work SRP.

Well said morty1.
I have long supported the use of feather for most guys who want a great SR shave. The maintenance of a SR is not trivial and when you just want to get a great shave without the hassle the Feather is the way to go. It is really a full proof SR shave every time where the only variable is technique.

I really like the shaves I get from the feather razors. I don't have a straight that shaves the way the DX does, no matter how sharp it is, it's just different. Since I like using both I've made a compromise, straight for the face and feather for the head shave.

And do you prefer the DX, or is the RG just as good?

Thanked: 3Actually, I had forgotten the different designations and after checking found that I have the RG rather than the more expensive DX. I can't honestly compare the two, but can say the RG provides very nice shaves using the Feather Artist Club Pro Guard blades. Good luck.

Thanked: 0Does using the feather everyday really thin the skin? I had read this somewhere.

A friend of mine has stopped using the feather because of that. I've never experienced it myself. But then he couldn't shave himself with one without very little blood drops appearing allover his face.
