That's just the beginning Carl. Pretty soon you'll be stretching your scalp just to get a good shave on your cheeks...

    Yeah, too true!

Scything + stretching is the only way to get mine.

I typically stretch on an angle away from my ear. It helps me to get that line under the jaw, but some days I can get at it easier than others.

I have the same E-W/W-E growth pattern and hollow. This is where ALL of my ingrown hairs and skin irritation show up. To shave that area BBS I put my chin down and pull the skin up much as shown in the pic from the coticule.be thread. That gets most of it for me. Then I pull down at the base of the neck to get the rest of it. I also use hybrid strokes.

My first stroke is at an angle much like this slash line / from ear to throat, with the stretching mentioned above. Because of the direction of growth that's half way between XTG and ATG. I do this first stroke with a standard hold on either side (and I switch hands). The second stroke I use (only two in this area to save on irritation) is more like this slash \ up from base of the neck below the ear to chin. I use a Kamisori type hold here with the scales in line with the spine. These two strokes will generally get everything nice and clean. However, if I'm not extra super careful on the first pass I can easily give myself razor burn, resulting in bumps, bumps then hide hairs and I have to carefully go in with the square point or come back with tweezers and get them out.

    Hope it helps!

    Peace,
    Jim

I'm with Pinklather on the smiling blade; that really helps me get into the crannies. Also, don't be afraid to really haul on your skin. You can pull a difficult patch to where it's not in a hollow any more, and get some easier passes at it.
