The neck can be very difficult. I have the same issue you have and you need some extreme stretching and have to really watch your stroke and the angle of the razor.
I find with smaller razors especially a Kamisori I can get it really well but larger like 7/8s razors forget it. Even 6/8s don't always work. Also a razor with a strong smile helps a lot also because it hugs the skin better. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 1195It's all in the skin stretching. I have some neck hollowing happening too. What I do is try to stretch to the side instead of up/down. When I do have to stretch up/down I will grip the skin very close to the area I'm shaving for maximum stretch effect. It's not something I'd recommend to someone new to SR shaving, just being honest.

Hey, T.
Old farts w/ baggy skin and angular features on the neck have this issue. Alot. Here's where the experimentation w/ stretches and strokes comes into play (like Ryan said). I still try new S&S for some areas. I've also tried stroking the concave areas the same way as the Coup de Maitre on the mustache, where the blade almost rotates on the axis of the spine. It'll take some experimentation and some time to find the right combination. The smiling blade is great for those concave areas. Less so for the wide, flat cheek. It definitely took me longer than 2 months to learn. I hope I learn some day

Tyler, I found the thread that showed pics of stretching the concave section on the neck, just below the jawline.
Scroll down the thread to see photos of Bart showing how far that skin will stretch.

The hair grows from right to left on the left sid of my throat and left to right on the right side. Shaving my right is easy enough, as I'm right handed. To shave the left, I hold the razor in my left hand at about a 45 degree angle to the line of my chin. Leading with the toe, I bring the razor across my neck, maintaining that angle or using a slight scything motion. I streth the skin slightly with my right hand just under my collar bone. This usually gives me an acceptable shave. Hope this will be helpful.

Thanked: 485At almost 50 I'm starting to classify as an old fart with baggy skin.
I find actually pulling down on the skin on the very top of my CHEST work well to get the skin taught. I do WTG and ATG on my neck, in fact when I do ATG it's normally ONLY on my neck for just this reason. In fact, to be precise, because my hair also grows E to W (or W to E) on my neck, the WTG and ATG on my neck is really two XTG passes.
I shave with a DE on Saturdays, and with that I can go sideways. I find that sideways DE shave once a week is enough to keep most of the problems at bay.Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?
