I like to shave in silence. Whether the I get it from the wife and kids is a different story.

I like to have quiet at least some of the time. Shaving and bicycle riding are two opportunities I have for silence with the exception of the sound of shaving or riding the trails.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 6Depends on the razor for me! If I'm using a wedge I dont get any audio feedback from the blade anyway, so Ill put on some music and relax. If I'm using a hollow ground blade I have learned to tune my ear to the shave, there is a magic sound when the razor is shaving right and I am manipulating it correctly.
I like a lot of different music when I do have music on!

Thanked: 3I typically shave in silence. It helps me focus on my problem areas, like under my jaw.

I always put on a relaxing Songza playlist - usually smooth jazz or some downtempo instrumentals - makes me that much more relaxed while shaving - which for me is already a very focused and zen experience.

I frequently shave with music playing in the background. What's wrong with listening to Metallica while shaving? I love heavy metal, thrash metal, hard rock, punk, etc. I really don't think music playing in the background while shaving must necessarily be relaxing, smooth, etc. though there's nothing wrong with that. I frequently put my playlist on shuffle, and as a result, I've shaved while listening to different artists with different styles of music (i.e. Clapton, Dio, Bob Marley, and so on) during the same shave, and it didn't make a lick of difference to me. I guess I'm weird like that.
