Storing leather and other natural materials where humidity and temperature are as consistent as possible is good. High humidity increases the risk of having rust, warping, and mold issues. Bathrooms often have an exhaust fan and/or opening window to help control moisture. In the absence of these features, keeping the room door open works under conditions where it is possible to do so.

Depends on where you. Live. I live in Colorado, my strop hangs right outside the shower and welcomes the moisture... If I lived in Hawaii, it would be a green piece of slime.. A true straight shaver moves to a climate that is advantageous to the razor....

Thanked: 983Well, I ain't moving to the desert. I like cold water shaves and we all know that water, cold or otherwise is a little hard to find in the desert. And being in Australia, what little water there is in the desert has a high mineral content condusive to making great rust. I'll just have to stay on the humid coast or move a little inland to the rainy mountains...

I keep my strops in the bathroom. It gets steamy. I've seen no ill effects. However, I also keep tabs on my strops and make sure they're properly oiled. Oil and water don't get along well, so a properly oiled strop (front AND back) is going to less susceptible to damage from steamy shower air. I suppose (though he's no longer around to ask) that's why grandpa's father's strop is still in good condition after hanging in regularly steamy bathrooms for ages.
Peace,
Jim
