This is just an educated guess but perhaps shaving the forehead just a tradition coming from the days of the samurai. Traditionally samurai's shaved the tops of their heads because they found it more comfortable when wearing there helmets. Samurai where also the japanese upper class so it is perhaps just a modern day tradition to keep the samurai spirit alive. We all know how proud they are of their culture and this would tie in with Snurds comment about the POW's as they would obviously have been modern day warriors.

No it's not actually our cat. I don't think I could even try to do this to our cats. Two are mix breed and one is a Bengal. All three would make me bleed more than I ever have from shaving if I came near them with a razor.
I worked with someone who used to do this to their long haired cat in the summer, saying it was more humane than letting them suffer the heat. I'm not so sure.
I just thought this photo would go good with this thread.
