The best expression I have heard for missing hair was decribed by Gsixgun as "Hone Mange"...

Watching shaving on You tube(slow day). Came up with a couple of oriental Barber Shop shave videos where the FOREHEAD was lathered and shaved. Two different videos, two different barber shops.
The whole forehead ... ? Any idea why??
This is just an educated guess but perhaps shaving the forehead just a tradition coming from the days of the samurai. Traditionally samurai's shaved the tops of their heads because they found it more comfortable when wearing there helmets. Samurai where also the japanese upper class so it is perhaps just a modern day tradition to keep the samurai spirit alive. We all know how proud they are of their culture and this would tie in with Snurds comment about the POW's as they would obviously have been modern day warriors.

ex-foliation perhaps.... and makeup works better on a freshly shaven face. i recall a video of japanese women having their faces shaven before applying their theater makeup... just guessing.

Interesting these cultural differences with shaving. There must be a study or a book written on it.

No it's not actually our cat. I don't think I could even try to do this to our cats. Two are mix breed and one is a Bengal. All three would make me bleed more than I ever have from shaving if I came near them with a razor.

I worked with someone who used to do this to their long haired cat in the summer, saying it was more humane than letting them suffer the heat. I'm not so sure.

I just thought this photo would go good with this thread.
