    Question Favorite Razor

Which razor is your favorite one and why? Just curious.

PS I guess I should Participate. For me it's my 7/8 Desert Ironwood W&B Sway Back.

This has been my staple shaver for about a year now. The Sheffield steel is of course a dream to hone taking a brilliant edge very easily, and the curved or 'smiling' edge and is very comfortable and both that feature and the spike tip are great to get in some of those tighter corners. The Aesthetic value of the ironwood scales were the first thing on my mind when I bought it (off eBay for $10 if I recall correctly) for Bill Ellis (did I say thanks Bill yet today? to restore, But it's often the last thing on my mind (of a very short list of important details) when I take it into the shave. I still can't believe what it looked like on eBay ... this:>

Right now, a heavy 6/8 Eskilstuna with French point - it just seems to drive itself!

It's also the one I sent to Lynn so I'd have a benchmark for honing.

I think my overall favorite is a W&B Celebrated For Barber's Use razor that I got from Robert WIlliams. Large-heavy blade, barber's notch, smile - what;s not to like about that?!?!

I thought this thread was about something totally different...NASCAR!

For me, it's a toss up between my Mondesir and my SRP #89!

Strange as it may sound (given I just bought a Henckels), my favourite is my wife's great-grandfather's 6/8 Bengall. It shaves well, hones easily and holds it's edge for a reasonable amount of time. But that's not why I love it. I love it because (1) My father-in-law gave it to me, with the trust that implies and (2) It gives me a sense of history and connectedness whenever I run it over my face. There's bigger, flashier, and fancier razors out there - and I'll probably end up with a few of them in time - but none can come close to that.
