Once, one of the ladies who run the antique malls around me asked me why I always seemed to buy razors, but was never clean shaven. I told her that when I went antiquing for razors, I knew I would be excited about any new purchases and would want to try them out right away when I got them home. If I shaved before going out antiquing (I always trim to clean up, but leave the majority of it for after) then I would be too excited to stop myself and would end up with shaven arms... or legs.
I have a very hard time going long without shaving. In the past three years of my addiction, I've probably missed less than twenty days in total. Half of the twenty were likely days when there just wasn't enough growth to allow myself the excuse to call it shaving.

Thanked: 30I do not know or understand why. Maybe its because after years of cartridge where a full growth required short strokes and a lot of rinsing. But I like to watch a cheek cleared of its visible hair in one swipe.

This thread is great and contains some sound advice.
I personally can never shave every day, even though my beard is very tough and coarse. My 'normal' routine is Tue, Thu and Sun, with the Sunday shave being the best after three days' growth. As I don't tend to visit clients or anything like that, I'm inclined to reduce this to twice a week, although I will miss my razors and soaps!
I've never shaved two days' in a row, as I never really saw the point. Most people around me have at least some stubble; those that don't usually can't grow any!!

Thanked: 459I don't think I could wait for shaves, either. I look forward to it every morning, and even with a strop, lather and two passes, it's less than 5 minutes.
I haven't honed my razor in a month, after a year of shaving, my strop (just a long piece of hanging veg. tanned horse leather off of ebay) has finally settled in where the razor settles into sharpness and stays there for a long time.
I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's shave.
