Lesson learned. Don't put a DE away with the cap loose and the blade exposed and grab at it a month down the line.

Never had this beef with a straight razor before

PS I did dress the cuts properly afterwards, I just needed to clean the claret from everywhere.

Bit of elec tape and some kitchen roll and your good to go.
Once the plasma(?) starts to form, some sterile strips to keep the cut from opening and fresh air allows for quicker healing in my experience.

Looks like shop bandages. Cause a bandaid won't stay on while working.

Takeout paper napkins and any tape on hand. That's how workmen roll.

I still count 5 - your good! lol

I've never had luck with Steri-strips they are just not strong or sticky enough. Don't let it dry too soon, it will crack easier. Covered good for the first while.
Once the bleeding stops its usually super glue then top with bandaid brand tough strips - they will NOT come off. By the time it frays bad and needs to be removed it will be healed enough to handle it.
It's that or stitches. I bought sutures online a few years ago but thankfully have not had to use them.

I did a similar thing while shaving my neck with a Gillette adjustable many years ago. The loose blade caught and left a cut going from one side of my neck to the other - not deep. but lots of red stuff. I had to use an entire roll of Elastoplast bandage to stop the bleeding.

Once the scab formed, I looked like the Frankenstein monster.

It was a good conversation starter.

I swear I cut myself worse and more frequently with a DE than a straight. I guess it could be argued that the word "safety" is deceptive but my personal opinion is that with a straight the whole blade and edge is always in plain view.

Of course that only applies while shaving. In a case like Mark's those are just squirmy little suckers with no handle.
