ROUGHKYPE nominated these pictures I posted under a seperate thread yesterday. He thought they would appropriately fit under this category. The wound was NOT a result of "shaving" but a shaving-related task; I was checking the edge of a razor after honing. I was using an eye loupe, which I now painfully realize may not be the best choice. Cheap attempt at humor, forgive me.
ANYWAY... the loupe fell from my eye and when I reached to catch it with my free hand I found the razor's edge with my pinky finger instead. Just to clarify, reaching for the falling eye loupe was stricly an invlountary reaction!
The pictures are out of focus, they were taken with my cell phone, in the emergency room. I almost never use camera on my phone and the staff weren't exactly there for a photo shoot. They did find the details leading up to the injury funny though.
Someone suggested pictures of the sutures also but the wound site is currently wrapped. I will get in-focus pics this afternoon to add to these. For now enjoy...
Much better focus this time! Is it me or does it look like the cut is not very smooth? To me, it looks rather jagged. It was an extremely clean cut and burned/hurt worse than any cut I have ever had previously! It should make a memorable scar. Enjoy. I am told it doesn't count unless there were at least 10 stitches so I gues this one only counts as a scratch.Last edited by OldSoldier; 08-05-2012 at 08:39 PM.

In the words of the immortal King of Rock-N-Roll; Thank You, Thank you vury much!
I can honestly say I hope this is one championship I hope never to lose. Not because I am afraid of being dethroned; I just would not wish a worse injury on anyone.
The stitches come out in 10 days. I'll try to remember to update the pictures if it leaves a nice scar.

Thanked: 443Old Soldier, that is one fine set of stitches! Looks like you had a good go at whittling that bit of your finger off. Good thing there was a bone in there to slow your progress. Best wishes for uneventful healing.

Definitely beats mine & I had blood dripping off my chin. Didn't take a pic though, so I guess it doesn't count anyway! You'll definitely have a friendly reminder from now on how bad natural reactions can be

Ahhh but looks can be deceiving! As bad as the cut looks, it isn't all that deep, THANK GOD! The seamster was even a little taken aback once it was numb and he could begin "handling" it; he spread the incision to determine the appropriate amount of neddle point to close it and found I had only managed to get through all the dermis and about 1/4 the fatty tissue.
That mouthful being said, good thing there was a bone in there to slow the progress indeed! It could very easily have been much worse. I was almost sure I found bone with all the blood that managed to find it's way out!
